Brando 05:03
I wanna buy a movie theatre And play my favourite films for you each evening I'll pick you up before nine And take you home the same time, believe me And as tears and credits begin to roll Halves of us will soon feel whole again And as lights awaken poets' thrones, We can sing and tap-dance home again I wanna be your Brando I wanna be your leading man I know it won't be easy Let's tape a sheet between these trees And make a movie screen I'm gonna get out my old camera And make a feature film with you as the star And every single minute The audience will smile just because you're in it And as scarlet carpets roll out for you I'll take your hand just so they know too; You're mine, you're mine, you're mine, you're mine And as Life and Time both question me I know each morning I'll roll over and see you're mine You're mine I wanna be your Brando I wanna be your leading man I know it won't be easy Let's tape a sheet between these trees And make a movie screen I wanna be your trailer I wanna be your premiere I'll take the critics' cruelty Throw it to the ocean and the air Along with my mistakes I'm gonna take this film that we made And see what it develops out to be And for the first time in my whole life I'll take the credit, and blame it all on me I wanna be your Brando I wanna be your leading man I know it won't be easy Let's tape a sheet between these trees And make a movie screen

Shining 03:47
Redundant inventions, stories you forgot to read These distant distractions just taking down your shields This old separation doesn't need to cause you pain 'Cause our salvation is gonna hit us like a train Are you always lonely when you're sitting there alone Or do the voices in your head give you another place to roam Is it always dark outside and have you even looked Because we're shining through the walls Breathing the night air, put your life inside a frame Looking in from the outside the problem seems so plain This old separation, like a wound that didn't heal But there's an operation and it'll change the way you feel Are you always lonely when you're sitting there alone Or do the voices in your head give you another place to roam You said it's always dark outside, but have you even looked Because we're shining through the walls So open your eyes, open your soul Open your eyes, you've gotta let go Are you always lonely when you're sitting there alone Or do the voices in your head give you another place to roam There's people turning over in the scorching summer sun And so your demons haven't won

Reflections 05:06
How long, you said to me Well that's a funny thing to ask I guess Get you off my chest now How long can you better be Running loose after some wings split two Those circles spin down We'll watch these white lines fading on blind sides And focus on reflections clear as day Forget what you know dear, all that you'll see here Is lightning in the glass standing in your way And you realise that all that you've ever known Is reflections, life's directions don't seem so clear So where to steer? Fog up the glass and take one last look at your world You want a break from it but you're afraid to turn away Focus in front of me Pretending to keep control of your wheel feel like you've got something to prove Don't lose sight you'll see When the engine breaks we'll be no closer to knowing what to do now Cos you've let the nighttime fade out to daylight Over till the stars seem to fall away And no one could tell you what lay out of your view Was a world fit for keeping your fears at bay And you realise that all that you've ever known Is reflections, life's directions don't seem so clear So where to steer? Fog up the glass and take one last look at your world You want a break from it but you're afraid to turn away These days don't seem to feel the same And I don't want to break the mould tonight Decayed we're free to run without shame Find me on a Sunday morning light And you realise that all that you've ever known Is reflections, life's directions don't seem so clear So where to steer? Fog up the glass and take one last look at your world You want a break from it but you're afraid to turn away

And when we're through the den and out the other side We'll be glad it's over, no, we won't be back again And when we fall apart It's not enough to break our god's heart He got tired of writing all day and all night And he cut our story short and he kissed his wife goodnight We went out of his headspace and out of our own lives We're soaked up by the pavement and the dawn is out of sight And we tried to keep our pieces together but they just won't go No they just won't go And we tried to keep our eyelids open but you can't keep from falling asleep My darling, why'd he leave you there When we are so small Who could leave you at all And when we're at our peak Do we stop to think that this is all we'll ever be Just where is your past It's a little to the left and it left a little fast We got tired of eating and working and sleep And all the endless energy that goes into a week We just wanna lie down on some mattress in a heap And not have to think anymore And we tried to blame our feet for walking but they just don't know No, the just don't know And we tried to stop our minds from churning But you can't keep from feeling the cold My darling, why'd he leave you there When we are so small Who could leave you at all I remember coming back, but I don't remember being there I remember afterwards when it was oh so quiet She approached me in the dark, said I don't remember being there And that it tore her up inside My darling, why'd he leave you there When we are so small Who could leave you at all

about

Parkville aren't done exploring the range of their instruments, not by a long shot. Following a big year of learning the ropes of the Melbourne music scene, they've finished recording their latest statement. The Peculiar Aftermath EP keeps one foot in the wistful intricacy of The Punch Brothers and the other in the explosive optimism of Mumford and Sons.
